Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
