Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
