In a surprising collaboration that breaks traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome transformations reverberate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine cult.

The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who finish the adventure will receive an special katana together with multiple objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's third free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Anime Partnerships

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that unmistakably echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
